| The Peer Support Leader’s (PSL) training retreat is part of the school’s developmental structure of the PSL Leadership programme. It aims to give the peer leaders an avenue to work together to strengthen their camaraderie and reflect and review their roles and responsibilities and the whole programme with their teachers. The retreat exposed the PSLs to various aspects of character development and the school’s values notably confidence, aspiration and responsibility through the teambuilding activities. The interaction and bonding among group members to work together garnering each other’s strengths and weaknesses to overcome the challenges ensured that the PSLs would be ready to work together in the tasks assigned to them in the future. The students were empowered to innovatively use basic items such as rope and wood to make ladders and other tools to help them clear the obstacles course. The hill trekking activity was a strenuous activity which challenged them to persevere under pressure and fatigue to complete their objective of reaching the hill top and at the same time to care and respect for each other. The retreat session during the workshops reaffirmed their roles and responsibilities and the PSL’s unanimously voted to work together to do a Carnival Day project by the PSLs to increase the morale of students and make BDS an enjoyable place for learning for their beloved BDSians. Overall it was an enjoyable and enriching experience for the students and teachers!!!! |
